Rugby Tours to Ireland for American Clubs

Ireland is the tour most American clubs ask about first, and for good reason. The clubs are sociable to a fault, the cities are small enough to walk, and the post-match is a cultural institution.

Dublin gives you the Aviva and the most famous night out in Europe. Limerick gives you Thomond Park, Munster, and a rugby town that will adopt you for the week.

Dublin, or Limerick and the west

In Dublin a central hotel puts the Aviva, Temple Bar and the Georgian city on foot. In Limerick you are a short walk from Thomond Park and two hours from the Cliffs of Moher and Galway for a free day. Plenty of tours do both: Dublin for the Test, the west for the club game.

The rugby

  • A fixture against an Irish club at your level. Irish club rugby runs deep, the clubhouses are the heart of the town, and a touring American side is an occasion.

  • A Six Nations or Autumn Test at the Aviva, or Leinster at the RDS and Munster at Thomond Park in the URC on a club weekend.

  • A practice at a top-level ground with a local coach taking it.

  • A joint men's and women's tour works well here. Plenty of Irish clubs field both and will host both on the same day.

Off the pitch

  • The pubs, obviously. Dublin's old ones around Grafton Street and the quays, and the music pubs everywhere else.

  • The Guinness Storehouse for the ones who want to see where it comes from.

  • A day on the west coast: the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Galway for the night.

  • Your court, your rules, in a room booked for it.

When to come

February and March
Six Nations in Dublin. St Patrick's weekend sometimes falls in the window, which is either a reason to come or a reason to pick the week before.
Late August and September
Irish clubs in preseason and keen for a game, provinces starting up, long evenings. Labor Day weekend suits US clubs. In 2027 Ireland play World Cup warm-ups.
November
Autumn Tests at the Aviva against the southern hemisphere sides.
Avoid June and July
The Irish club season ends in spring and a competitive game is very hard to find.

What a week looks like

One shape of many. A long weekend is the back half of this: fly Thursday night, match, Test, court, home Sunday or Monday.

  1. 01Saturday: overnight flight from the US.
  2. 02Sunday: land, hotel, first pints, welcome dinner.
  3. 03Monday: practice with a local coach, afternoon in the city, music pub in the evening.
  4. 04Tuesday: west coast day, or Limerick and Thomond Park.
  5. 05Wednesday: free day. Group dinner.
  6. 06Thursday: match day against the host club, clubhouse after, big night.
  7. 07Friday: recovery, Test or provincial game, reserved area for the evening.
  8. 08Saturday: court session. Sunday: home, or stay on.

Rough outline. The itinerary is built around your dates, your numbers and the fixtures that year.

Why us for Ireland

We have toured Ireland as players and know the clubs that put on a real post-match. We have good contacts at the provinces and the union, and we know which parts of Dublin want a touring side and which parts you should avoid on a Saturday night.

BUILT BY CLUB PLAYERS, FOR CLUB PLAYERS

We run adult clubs ourselves, so we know what a tour is for: a few good sessions, a competitive game, a few big nights, and watching some crazy good rugby.

No school groups. No youth tours. No parents. Men's and women's adult clubs, from social sides to top-of-the-league sides, and old boys who want one more trip.

We don't over-plan. The core parts are set and the rest is left open for you to go and adventure on your own. We don't come on the tour and hold hands.

Your traditions, your court, your clans, your rules. We book the room and leave you to it.

We get under the hood of local club rugby: a host club matched to your level, practices on local grounds you would not get onto on your own, and the small things that make an adult club tour better.

Our own platform takes the $50 deposits and the installments from every player and does the chasing. The organiser never collects a cent.
